A history professor at the University of New Brunswick in Saint John says she hopes her new book about how women in Atlantic Canada got the vote helps to dispel a number of myths, including the notion that the region was behind the times.

We now know who will lead the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation until the next CEO is chosen.
Jamie Gallagher, who chairs the foundation’s board of directors, has been named interim CEO.
“The Board and the Foundation team look forward to working with Jamie to ensure operations at the Foundation continue to run smoothly during the leadership transition,” the foundation said in an email Monday.
Gallagher will fill the role temporarily when the current president and CEO, Jeff McAloon, steps down in July.
McAloon
announced in April that he would be leaving the foundation after eight years as president and CEO.

Co-owners Jamie and Mary Ann Gallagher announced the sale of the inn and restaurant to Tracy Pitts and Martin St-Denis from Gatineau, Quebec on Tuesday.
Jamie and Mary Ann Gallagher have been owners of the Shadow Lawn Inn since 2010 and it has gone through generational family ownership for 35 years.
“The Inn has been an integral part of our family for so many years. We purchased the Inn from my parents in 2010. I essentially grew up on this property. We have been honoured to serve the community through Shadow Lawn Inn and have had the privilege to be part of so many memorable occasions for families here in our community,” said Jamie Gallagher in a news release.
