India’s top para shuttler Parul Parmar said the Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum 3rd Dubai Para Badminton International 2021 Championships will set the tone for an important year which has the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games and the World Championships lined up later in the year.
Parmar, the top seed here and world no. 1 in the women s SL3 event, was happy that international events have resumed after a gap of more than a year. The last BWF event was the Peru International held in February 2020.
“More than anything, I am happy that international competition has resumed. It s an important year as we have the Tokyo 2020 and Paralympic Games and this event will set the tone for the big events. I am happy that I could pull off my first singles played after so long.

Dubai, April 1 : It was yet another comfortable day for top Indian Para Badminton stars as they advanced to the knockout stage of the 3rd Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Dubai Para Badminton International here on Thursday.
Top seeds Pramod Bhagat (MS SL3), Parul Parmar (WSSL3), Krishna Nagar (MS SH6), among others, won their respective singles and doubles matches in emphatic manner at the Shabab Al Ahli Club.
Bhagat, the reigning world champion, said he is aiming for nothing less than gold in singles and men s doubles SL3-SL4 where he is paired with Manoj Sarkar and is top seeded.
