1 dead, several injured after car strikes crowd in Texas

OAN Newsroom UPDATED 8:10 AM PT – Friday, May 7, 2021 Texas authorities have identified the suspect who drove into a crowd of people outside a restaurant as the son of the woman who died in the incident. According to the Harris County Sheriff, the person behind the wheel of that vehicle was 20-year-old Homer Lopez who is accused of running over several people Thursday. His mother, 35-year-old mother Crystal Gomez, was pronounced dead at the hospital. Meanwhile, one person is in serious condition while several others suffered minor injuries.

Officials say driver intentionally struck crowd, killing one person

© Getty Images Police say that the driver of a car that struck a group of people in Houston, killing one woman, did so intentionally. Around 1 a.m. on Thursday, several people were huddled together in the parking lot of a Pinchy s Tex-Mex Restaurant after a fight broke out inside. After the crowd relocated outside, a man, about 20 years old, hit them with his car, ABC News reports. Investigators are looking into whether the fight was the impetus behind the incident, which left one woman dead and one other critically wounded. Several other people sustained less severe injuries, including four who were transported to local hospitals.
