Charter schools as Public Schools. The difference between the autonomy and the ability to make different kinds of decisions as an operating charter versus the systems that we are trying to build as a district are very different. I worry regularly that as we start chipping away at the system of traditional Public Schools that we start chipping away at those other options and opportunities that our kids are committed that were committed to providing to our young people. I am going to honor what i have committed to for the bay view and i am going to support the leadership we have put in place there with nikki and dmitriious. I believe in the leadership. The commitment in the principal and teacher this is the four Elementary Schools in the bay view are going to do it is going to have the investments reflected in their success. I wanted to share my thinking process and to thank you for coming out and that the communities that you have built have been strong but i am not prepared tonight to
I am deeply invested as a School Board Member in the entire Bay View Community and what is happening in all of our schools. Over the last several years we made deep investments in our schools that are in bay view in particular. We have focus a lot of energy and resources in providing support to africanamerican students and the incrementals. There has been some progress made. Absolutely not enough. I think we see that over and over again across the country, and i feel like i am in a place where my commitment to the investment that we have made in the bay view schools is critical. I need to stick to that commitment that we have made and the resources that we are pouring into the schools to ensure that our students and their families and the teachers that are committed to those students and families in the bay view are well supported. As difficult as this is just in terms of the support i have provided to kipp over many years, i am not able to such port new school at this time. I just thi

As difficult as this is just in terms of the support i have provided to kipp over many years, i am not able to such port new school at this time. I just think that we need to continue to provide the support that we have been giving to our students. I it is in a very unique position in terms of ensuring the city provides the support our families reserve and they get through the city services. My commitment lies there. That doesnt discount the work and efforts that you all put into building the community. I think one of the things that is difficult for me despite my support for some of the really high performing Charter Schools is that when we

President elmy bermejo. Commissioner wan is excused. Theres a quorum. Item for discussion. Welcome to the commission on the environment. This is our first meeting since the untimely passing of ed lee. I want to send sincere condolences to his wife and daughters. His last appearance was at the recycling press conference with the department of environment and he spoke about the work so eloquently like he always did. We are really, really saddened by the loss of our environmental champion and today well discuss ways to support and maintain his legacy. Reflecting back on a year ago this month was an overwhelming turnout at the womens march and march for science. This weekend many of us marched peacefully once again to ensure our voices are heard. I had the honor of speaking this weekend to what they cons
