What’s left to say about 2020 except that it’s over. But what a year with the well-chronicled coronavirus pandemic that killed more than 300,000; racial unrest that created division in across many communities and a presidential election that was over until it wasn’t. And there was plenty of more to a year that goes down as one of the most memorable in recent history. Here’s some of what happened.

Several Alabama charities and non-profit organizations are among hundreds of organizations nationwide which have received $4.1 billion in giving from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott.
The author and former wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Scott announced that she has given away the money over the past four months to hundreds of organizations as part of a giving pledge she announced last year. The money, she said, would in part fund initiatives to address the inequities harshened by the coronavirus outbreak.
