The first meeting of the WHO Council on Economics of Health for All will discuss the Council’s overall mission, expected outputs and ways of working, in order to provide bold and innovative advice to WHO, at the same time, practical, to enable greater investment for health. Dr Tedros, WHO’s Director-General, announced the establishment of a WHO Council on the Economics of Health for All during the Seventy-third World Health Assembly in May 2020. The Council is led by Chair Mariana Mazzucato, Professor of the Economics of Innovation and Public Value and Founding Director in the Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose at University College London. The Council’s focus is on new strategies to shape economies and financial systems with the objective of building healthy societies that are just, inclusive, equitable and sustainable.
