Better Things on Hulu if you have children, this is a must.
The last book I read was
Mistress of the Ritz by Melanie Benjamin, which takes place during the German occupation of Paris. And Ronan Farrow’s book
Catch and Kill. I also enjoyed
Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens, and
Stoned: Jewelry, Obsession, and How Desire Shapes the World by Aja Raden a must-read for anyone in the jewelry business. But my absolute favorite TV is escapism, and I’ve already watched all the episodes twice of
The Durrells in Corfu, based on Gerald Durrell’s trilogy,
Favourite movie: National Lampoon s Christmas Vacation, in all of its retro 80s glory.
Favourite book: A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. For several years, I have reread the original in a comfortable chair by the tree. It is a story that transcends time, unfortunately, about the extremes of the haves and the have nots . There is redemption, generosity and, ultimately, hope. Good themes for 2021. It remains contemporary nearly 180 years later.
Favourite holiday song: Very tough here. It has shifted over the years. Sarah McLachlan’s version of River is excellent. In the last few years, it has been the Mavericks Christmas album (Hey! Merry Christmas!), and Chris Isaak’s twangy take on the holidays.
