Investigative Reporter Investigations into two sitting Chula Vista Councilmembers may have been tainted by actions of City officials before outside attorneys have released their own findings in the cases. Separate complaints were filed last month by Dr. Peter Watry, Jr., a retired Economics professor, raising concerns that Councilman John McCann and Councilwoman Andrea Cardenas may have violated the City’s campaign laws. According to the City’s Municipal Code, such complaints must be filed with the City Clerk who, in turn, must forward them to outside lawyers pre-selected by the City Board of Ethics to serve as an independent Enforcement Authority so that City staff are not conflicted in reviewing complaints against the City or City officials.

Police continue search for autistic woman in Chula Vista

CHULA VISTA  Police on Tuesday continued to search for a 47-year-old woman with autism who went missing from a casino in Chula Vista on Sunday after she apparently left willingly with a man, a police lieutenant said. Chula Vista police Lt. Dan Peak said investigators continued to work with the family of Pang Vue in an effort to locate her. Video surveillance showed Vue leaving the Seven Mile Casino on Bay Boulevard near F Street about 1:45 a.m. with the unidentified man, police said Sunday. She was last seen being pushed in a wheelchair by the man and heading south on Bay Boulevard.
