The local police in Udupi have issued a warning to recipients of the Gruha Jyoti and Gruha Lakshmi programs to remain vigilant regarding fraudulent activities related to fake online applications.
Energy Minister KJ George revealed that many consumers had yet to register for Gruha Jyothi. Consequently, the energy department is planning a special drive where people can visit designated counters and take advantage of the facility. George also announced that consumers would be given until July 25 to register and enjoy free power for the month of July.
The Congress government also earmarked an additional Rs 10,000 crore for Anna Bhagya scheme. The scheme is expected to benefit 4.42 crore beneficiaries.
Bescom said that consumers who enroll in the Gruha Jyoti scheme before July 25 will receive free electricity for the month of July while those who enroll before August 25 will receive free electricity for August.
The government has not released any mobile app for the registration process but people can register through the Seva Sindhu portal, according to Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) S D Sharanappa.
