Sacramento-area residents say the violence is a local and national issue. Organizers saw a victory last week when the city of Davis passed a resolution supporting “immediate cease-fire” and “an end to all hostilities.”
The Davis City Council chambers were filled with rows of disgruntled residents, some with “ceasefire now” signs or shirts that said “not in our name,” who attended the council's Tuesday night meeting to voice their opinions about a proposed resolution calling for peace in Israel and Gaza.

In a press release following the meeting, the group argued that “although Thompson claimed to agree with the need to follow international law… he did not specify support for a ceasefire or other concrete actions to prevent what the UN calls a humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.”
Roughly 20 people marched up and down Main Street Tuesday outside of Congressman Mike Thompson’s office located at 622 Main St. calling on the congressman to call for a ceasefire during a vigil honoring the thousands of children who have been killed in the Israel-Hamas war.
