NEKOOSA, Wis. (AP) A classic old golf course The Lido is being resurrected 1,000 miles from the original with the assistance of a video game and GPS-guided tractors. The Lido at Sand Valley Golf Resort in central Wisconsin is perhaps the most ambitious project the golf course-developing Keiser family has undertaken.

This summer season we can all celebrate a wonderful achievement for Shelter Island Gardiner’s Bay Country Club is 125 years old.
Although the club’s early history was a series of challenges, including fire, World Wars and the Great Depression, the club’s current position is one of strength and a future full of promise.
By the late 19th century, at the home of golf in Scotland’s St. Andrews, shepherds had been swinging their crooks at pebbles for over half a millennium. However, golf in America in 1896 was still in its infancy. Following golf’s journey across the Atlantic in the early 1890’s the growth of the game in America was slow. There were few golf professionals in the United States making clubs and balls, creating courses and giving lessons.

We’ve reached the 54-hole stage of the second leg of the PGA Tour’s ‘Hawaii swing’ and there is a certain element of déjà vu about the leaderboard as the man who sits at the top of affairs, Brendan Steele, was in this exact same position at this stage 12 months ago.
On that occasion, having held a two-shot lead with two to play, Steele lost out in a play off to Cameron Smith after bogeying the 17th and failing to birdie the par-5 18th, and the obvious question is how will the Californian who last tasted victory at the Safeway Open in 2017 be effected by that experience as he bids to become the first player on the PGA Tour to win an event the year after losing out in a play off since Ryuji Imada achieved the feat at the 2008 AT & T Classic.

National Recognition for 12 Illinois Sites Added to National Register of Historic Places in 2020
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) today announced 12 Illinois sites were added to the National Register of Historic Places during 2020, including one National Historic Landmark.
“Thanks to the advocacy and support of historic preservationists from throughout the state, and thanks to the work of our staff at the IDNR State Historic Preservation Office, these additions to the National Register help tell the story of Illinois,” said IDNR Director Colleen Callahan.
The places recognized are located across Illinois and include a 150-year old farmstead, the home of the Chicago Cubs, and four historic districts that, when combined, include more than 700 significant properties.
