Kevin Ashley is a local historian documenting Coronado's Black history, and curator of the Coronado Historical Association's current exhibition, "An Island Looks Back: Uncovering Coronado's Hidden African-American History." His work to document the wrongful death of Coronado's Alton Collier in 1946 has led to the Equal Justice Initiative including Collier in its listing of racial terror lynching victims.
