On 6 November 2020, the 39th Session of the Baltic Assembly and 26th Baltic Council was held. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic that was widspread in the Baltic states and in the world in general the Session of the Baltic Assemblyl for the first time was held digitally.
Parliamentarians and governmental representatives of the Baltic states met to discuss results of the Estonian presidency, plans for the Lithuanian presidency and the impact of COVID-19 on economies, health and employment area as well as education and research.

nd Session of the Baltic Assembly were held on 28–29 November in Riga, giving a chance for the Baltic parliamentarians to address strengthening of cooperation in areas such as tourism, combating of organised crime, research and innovation, as well as establishment of a digital single market.
This year, the Session of the Baltic Assembly was opened by Raimonds Vējonis, President of the Baltic Assembly, Speakers of the Baltic parliaments - Solvita Āboltiņa, Speaker of the Saeima; Ene Ergma, President of the Riigikogu; and Loreta Graužinienė, Speaker of the Seimas; as well as Vice Presidents of the Baltic Assembly Laine Randjärv and Giedre Purvaneckienė.

The idea on establishment of the Baltic Assembly Prize was conceived in 1992. The establishment of the Baltic Prize was inspired by the tradition of the Nordic Council Prizes.
On 31 October 1993 in Tallinn, Resolution on the Establishment of the Baltic Assembly Prizes in Culture, Arts and Science was adopted. Main aim of establishment of the Prizes was to promote further cooperation among the three nations, provide new opportunities for exchanging cultural values and stimulate better understanding of the history and cultural heritage of the countries .
The aim of the Prize is to support outstanding achievements in literature, the arts and science; demonstrate the common interests of the countries in this region in upholding of their national identity and self-esteem; create an opportunity to learn about the achievements of the neighbouring countries; maintain a continuous interest among the people in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania about developments in the Baltic States; strengthen
