Sunflower Seeds Could Help Reduce Pain by Angela Mohan on June 29, 2021 at 10:28 AM
Sunflower seeds could help treat pain and reduce inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract, abdominal area and/or internal organs.
The study led by Christian Gruber from MedUni Vienna s Institute of Pharmacology (Center for Physiology and Pharmacology), was conducted jointly with the University of Queensland and Flinders University in Australia.
The goal of the study is to find an alternative to commonly used synthetic opioids. Gruber explains the background: Morphine was one of the first plant-based medicines and was isolated from the dried latex of poppies more than 200 years ago. It binds to opioid receptors in the brain and is still regarded as the main pillar of pain therapy.
UK Likely to See Summer Surge in Covid-19 Cases by Hannah Joy on April 23, 2021 at 10:22 AM
UK is more likely to see a summer surge in covid-19 cases, as many adults are yet to be vaccinated, said a British government advisory scientist.
On Wednesday, Professor Adam Finn, of the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunization (JCVI), an independent expert advisory committee that advises health departments on immunization, said modelling shows coronavirus cases will rise in the summer as lockdown is relaxed, Xinhua news agency reported. The models that we ve seen on JCVI clearly point to a summer surge in cases as the lockdown is relaxed, because there are still many people in the adult population who ve not been immunized, he told the BBC.
