I usually start with the federal level and i wanted to give you a report that the Older Americans the Congress Passed a shortterm continuation of the Older Americans act. As i mentioned before, it was some set it on september 30th so they passed a shortterm resolution to keep it going until november 21st. In the meantime, we are hoping to work out the appropriation differences that they have, so we had really news on the house side that there were actually they were proposing some increases for the Older Americans act and on the senate side, it was much less impressive. So theres still a lot of advocacy to be done, and hopefully our advocates from San Francisco will be thinking about how we can reach out and make sure that the Older Americans act gets funded at hopefully better levels than it currently loo

People on the streets, that there are a lot of people that are willing and able to accept services, but the services dont exist. And especially looking at the connection with homelessness, but if somebody is trying to get help for a Mental Health condition or for substance use, but they are not given housing, it is nearly impossible to maintain that. I hope you all will join that effort to continue to push for that. Lastly, on the conversation about longterm care, i wanted to make sure you all knew that there is a town hall on Longterm Services and supports coming up on thursday, september 19th. It is the day before this attempt 20th dignity fund forum, so hopefully you can plan on those back to back. It is september 19th from 10 00 a. M. Until 12 00 p. M. And it is at the main library in the auditorium. So, um, you can see that we have five overarching Strategic Plan goals to maintain a Robust Network of communitybuster communitybd services, provide consumercentred programming, and to ensure best use of resources, and maximize client outcomes, and support and develop and engage professional workforce that is prepared to work with other people and adults with disabilities. So from goal one, i really just wanted to highlight strategy b, which is to explore alternative models to best serve younger adults with disabilities. As you may remember, the 2018 Dignity Fund Needs Assessment highlighted that people with disabilities in San Francisco experienced discrimination, and there is a lack and utilization of available resources.
