Art Bowles grew up on guest ranches his parents owned in the Upper Fryingpan Valley and eventually owned and operate one of the resorts with his wife, Pauline. Art was also a snowcat operator who played an important role in the development of Snowmass Ski Area, and he was promoted to run Breckenridge ski area from 1978 to 1992. Art died earlier this month at age 91.
