No tenders received for Templeshannon project

The regeneration strategy for Templeshannon in Enniscorthy will be dependent on a successful negotiated tender after the open tender process failed to attract any interest from consultant firms. The multi-million euro project will be developed in three stages and the current tender process was with regard to a preliminary design for the area, which will also incorporate a new pedestrian footbridge over the Slaney. However, at last week s meeting of Wexford County Council the members were told that no submissions were received for the strategy as a result of the open tender process. In the wake of that meeting, Chief Executive Officer of Wexford County Council Tom Enright spoke about the issue and what it means for the project in the long term.

Another year passes without a start on Flood Relief works

Despite assurances and promises, the advancement of the Enniscorthy Flood Relief Scheme still seems mired in bureaucracy, as the elected members of Wexford County Council were informed last week that there would not likely be any movement on the long awaited project until mid-way through next year. Over the years, the people of the Cathedral town have navigated their way through public meetings, displays and consultations, artists images and plans, and yet still those in close proximity to the banks of the Slaney are forced to offer up silent prayers every time they see heavy rainfall and the water levels begin to rise.
