I believe the lask coordination for the Coronavirus Response is on full display. We all know that. Markets are reacting. I think at least in some part to the lack of trusted information amongst many other factors. Our government across the government has to speak with credibility and authority. Instead, its like a great chorus champion on the side of the stage. We have one saying one thing, the president saying something else, and that adds to the confusion. I think that there are key questions that need to be addressed for the American People. Whats the plan, the overall plan should this virus infect americans in high numbers . Whats the plan for increasing diagnostic capacity, and whats the target number for that . Dysfunctional tests, we all know, have limited our ability to diagnose the virus, and the small number, it could be said of u. S. Cases, may reflect limited testing and not the virus spread. But its up to our professionals to put out with clarity that kind of information.
President trump, Vice President pence and members of the administrations Coronavirus Response team met with Airlines Ceos this morning. They discussed efforts to prevent the spread of the virus among travelers. At the end, the president talked about super tuesday primary results. Some of the biggest and the best and know the business better than anybody. Theyve been in it a long time and emerged to in all cases head their companies and we were talking about the effects of the virus on the air travel and what they see. In a certain way you could say the borders are automatically shut down without having to say shut down. That is a large number. 3. 5 of the global population. But another number more striking is 70 million displaced persons and if you think about that, we are living at a time where we see more people forced out of their lives and out of their homes, sometimes out of their countries than at any time in history, we see these people on the move. Over half of them, over half of the refugees that are in other countries are from three countries, syria, afghanistan and south suzanne. South sudan, which is also really striking. When you think about what this means for policy, obviously has to be policy for handling refugees, policy for migration, policy for immigration of people who are not refugees.
