CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – The Albemarle County Police Department is mourning the loss of their courthouse K-9. The 11-year old black lab has passed away after service as a “courthouse dog” trained by Service Dogs of Virginia.
Theo’s role was to offer a calm presence bringing comfort to victims and witnesses going through the legal process. He performed his services for 7 years, spending his days accompanying Albemarle Victim/Witness staff going about their duties.
His Albemarle Police obit says Theo’s laid-back demeanor made him ideal for the job.
