Thats one of the areas in which they had the least support, and theyve gotten the least insight. Theyre struggling with, how do i deal with whose kids native language is not english. That is a weak zone ive seen in my reporting. Not to mention kids with special needs. Kids far behind academically. Absolutely. Chris, is this your experience as well . Yeah. Its my experience with whatever state standards weve had in the past as well. I do think that we have a real challenge as a condition tri about what do we do with kids that are below grade level, our current testing structure tests at grade level. So how do we make sure were scaffolding so children can advance and were measuring growth, not just as part of our accountability system. I think these are all things that need to be looked at by states to make sure that special needs students and kids who are behind academically get there. I think we have time for one more question from the crowd. I think well go right here to the front. Sa
Mr. Schatz mr. President . The presiding officer the senator from hawaii. Mr. Schatz i ask unanimous consent to vacate the quorum call. The presiding officer without objection, the quorum call be suspended. Mr. Schatz thank you 34r79s. Last night the Senate Passed the native american memorial act of 2013. The bill now heads to the president for his signature. I introduced the native american memorial amendments act in may and worked with representative mull ins since he introduced an identical bill in the house in june. This bill is needed to facilitate construction of a longawaited native American Veterans memorial on the national mall. He made clear, however, that he wasnt focused on the d. C. Memorial but his goal was a world war i memorial here. While i very much believe in commemorating all world war i veterans, i had to oppose altering the integrity of the d. C. Memorial. The d. C. Memorial was built with the blood and treasure of d. C. Residents only, including funds from schoolchildren. More than 26,000 d. C. Residents who served in world war i, the 491 who died, more than the number from three states, have their names enfwraved on the memorial. Our memorial is deeply symbolic of historic and continuing concerns of this of district veterans, particularly our veterans who continue to serve without equal congressional representation, equail equal rights as citizens and equal local government control. In the spirit of Cooperation Among members, members of both party the housepassed version of h. R. 6364 would have protected the d. C. War memorial and h. R. 6364 is amended as amended by the senate similarly will ha
Questions from the back cue. Were using the microphone in the back of the room. And again, general rules. If one can identify ones self, we get cracking. Steve wu again. I wanted to thank you for your thoughtprovoking paper. One of the things ive been thinking about is generally the transition from physical to digital and how the law doesnt seem to have caught up. And the example that i give is in the 1990s when i was really first thinking about the internet and i was trying to do, quote unquote, computer law, i saw some of the cases having to do with Insurance Coverage for the loss of some kind of data center. And a claim was put in by the insured to seek compensation for not only the loss of the hardware but also the loss of the data. Of course policies werent very sophisticated at that time but the courts said you can cover for the loss of the hardware but data intangible and not covered by the eyes of the policy and in the eyes of the court, this data have no worth. And im saying t
