RCSI, St Stephen s Green, Dublin RCSI helps build first-ever pan-African training platform for paediatric surgeons The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) has announced details of an innovative partnership with global health charity Kids Operating Room (Kids OR) to create the first pan-African training programme for children’s surgeons. With bases Scotland and Kenya, Kids OR installs dedicated facilities for children’s surgery across low and middle-income countries; the RCSI, meanwhile, has a track record in supporting surgical education using interactive technology in similar settings. Prof George Youngson, Kids OR trustee and Emeritus Professor at the University of Aberdeen, described the project as a “pioneering partnership” which will result in more and better trained surgeons for the continent.
