With International Women’s Day arriving this Monday, it is a great time to highlight some of the women crafting excellent wines.
Every female worker faces challenges not seen by males. In Canada, the pay gap sits at about 75 cents, according to Statistics Canada, meaning full-time working women generally earn 75 cents for every dollar earned by a man in a similar job.

We have been fortunate in Canada to have strong, trail-blazing women who are beacons for others people such as former Tinhorn Creek winemaker and chief executive officer Sandra Oldfield; Ann Sperling, who makes wines in B.C., Ontario and Argentina; and Christine Coletta, co-owner of Okanagan Crush Pad and one of the founders of both the B.C. VQA program and the B.C. Wine Institute, now known as Wine Growers British Columbia.
