JOHOR BARU: A restaurant owner is fearing for the safety of her family and workers after loan sharks splashed her shopfront with red paint and threatened to set it on fire over some money borrowed by her former employee. Azizan Inche Harun, 38, who stays on the floor above her restaurant in Seri Alam here, was alarmed when she heard loud noises coming from outside the premises at 11.30am on Monday (Feb 8). “It sounded like someone was repeatedly hurling things at my shop’s roller shutters, so I went downstairs to check. “I was shocked to find red paint splashed across the front of my shop with a note demanding that my ex-employee repay his loan, or the ah long would return to set my shop on fire.

Teenager killed as car rams into tree in Pasir Gudang

PASIR GUDANG: A teenager was killed after the car he was in rammed into a tree on Jalan Persiaran in Seri Alam here. Seri Alam acting OCPD Deputy Supt Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said that the 18-year-old was driving from the Pasir Gudang Highway and was heading towards Jalan Gunung in Seri Alam when the incident took place at about 2pm on Thursday (Jan 28). The victim is believed to have lost control and skidded towards a road divider before crashing into a tree. He suffered serious injuries on the head due to the collision and died at the scene, he said in a statement here on Thursday (Jan 28).

Cops arrest man in suspicion of throwing petrol bombs, red paint at several houses

JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested a 36-year-old man believed to have thrown petrol bombs and red paint at several houses here. Seri Alam acting OCPD Deputy Supt Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said that the suspect was arrested at about 7am on Saturday (Jan 16), in front of a shop in Taman Ria Plentong. The suspect was believed to have thrown petrol bombs and red paint at a house in Taman Molek at about 9am on Thursday (Jan 14). He then did the same thing to another house in Taman Bukit Tiram at about 11.15am on the same day. We have also seized several items from the suspect to assist in investigations. This included his clothes and helmet, which has red paint, a marker believed to have been used to write threat notes and a lighter believed to have been used to light up the petrol bomb, he said in a statement on Saturday.

JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested a woman for driving against traffic along the Senai-Desaru Expressway near the Cahaya Baru toll plaza exit. A video of the incident, which occurred on Thursday, showing a woman driving a car towards Desaru has gone viral on social media. Johor police chief Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the 46-year-old woman was detained after she turned up at the Seri Alam district police headquarters on Saturday. He said Johor Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department had earlier received the dashcam video lasting 0.48 seconds around noon which was recorded by the public. “We managed to identify the vehicle, ” he said in a statement.
