Russia has given a rare insight into the inner workings of one of the country s early-warning ballistic missile system facilities to mark its 50-year anniversary.
Video footage shows the Serpukhov-15 satellite control centre in Kaluga Oblast, which is around 90 miles southwest of Moscow.
The facility is constantly on the lookout for incoming ballistic missiles from Russia s enemies so that they can quickly react - and in June last year the country set up a space system which continuously monitors US territory for possible launches.
The footage shows operators at the centre responding to a simulated missile attack from the US.

Russia s new early-warning systems could spot future weapon attacks from other countries. Sergei Saprykin, Chief Designer of the Research Institute for Long-Range Radio Communications (part of RTI Group), said that the country s potential integration into its missile attack early warning systems are enough to predict possible attack weapons that are being developed.
