Police were called to the family home in Ipswich on Tuesday and found the distressed woman. When her accused son went before a court on Friday, police strongly opposed his bail. Appearing via-video link from the police watch house, the man appeared on one charge of contravening a domestic violence protection order on April 13 in Goodna. When opposing bail, prosecutor Sergeant Trent Voigt said the incident involved the man allegedly standing over his 74-year-old mother and grabbing her by her hair.

'Family feud' behind frightening bus brawl

When the bus driver hailed police for help, officers boarded to find the disturbance had erupted at the rear of the bus. One man was seen standing on a seat kicking Jay Masso. Several passengers were charged, including Masso, who went before court on Friday for his role in the incident. Jay Frances Masso, 38, from Bellbird Park, pleaded guilty to causing public nuisance on a bus at Riverview on Monday, March 15. Prosecutor Sergeant Trent Voigt said police were waved down by the bus driver at Gibb Street just after 2pm.

Fence builder in bail bid over multiple fraud charges

Premium Content Subscriber only A FENCE builder subject to strong warnings in two states has started a new bail application in Ipswich Magistrates Court so he can fight $30,000 in fraud charges. Matthew Geoffrey Rixon, 36, from Southport, is charged with 11 fraud related offences in Queensland. The court heard he was willing to wear a GPS tracking device and restrict himself to the Southport area if allowed bail. He also agreed to have no involvement in construction or fence building. Although only limited details were given during his part-heard bail application, Rixon is accused of committing frauds involving about $30,000 as a result of being contracted to build fences in various regions of Queensland.

Attempted car jacking accused remains in custody

Premium Content Subscriber only A MAN accused of taking part in an attempted car-jacking at an Ipswich shopping centre on Sunday remains in custody after not applying for bail. The man, 22-year-old Bohkeen Liam Langton from Cherbourg, did not appear before Ipswich Magistrate Terry Duroux on Monday when the charges against him were mentioned. Langton is charged with attempted unlawful use of a motor vehicle at Booval on Sunday, January 10; unlawful use of a motor vehicle; attempted robbery/use threaten violence/in company; and contravening a police direction. The offences are alleged to have occurred at Booval Fair Shopping Centre car park and involved three males who fled the scene in a taxi.
