DV order breached so couple could get back together

Premium Content Subscriber only A Central Queensland man has received a suspended sentence after breaching a domestic violence order so he and his victim could get back together. The defendant, who cannot be named due to legal reasons, pleaded guilty in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on January 6 to one count each of contravening a domestic violence order, possessing a dangerous drug and possessing a drug utensil. Police prosecutor Sergeant Shaun Janes said police attended an address in Longreach on January 3 and saw the defendant leave a home with the victim. Sgt Janes said later that night, police were made aware of a domestic violence order, which prohibited the defendant from contacting, approaching or attending the victim s address.

Roofer slips up riding motorbike while unlicensed

Premium Content A unlicensed motorcyclist rode to drop his girlfriend at the bank. Talon Reginald Petzler, 19, pleaded guilty on December 14 in Rockhampton Magistrates Court to one count of driving unlicensed. Police prosecutor Sergeant Shaun Janes said police intercepted Petzler at Aquatic Place at 2.40pm on October 4 riding a black Kawasaki with a passenger. He said checks revealed Petzler was unlicensed. Sgt Janes said Petzler told police he was dropping his girlfriend at the bank. The court heard the full-time roofer had been disqualified from driving for one month and had not renewed his licence afterwards. He was fined $250 and a traffic conviction was recorded.

William Cotter, 42, pleaded guilty on December 4 in Rockhampton Magistrates Court to three counts of possessing a dangerous drug, two counts of possessing drug utensils, possessing a grinder, possessing an explosive, and one of failing to dispose of a syringe. Police prosecutor Sergeant Shaun Janes said Cotter had multiple drug offences on his four-page history and had various sentences including probation and jail terms. Cotter was found with drugs including marijuana, utensils and explosives on May 14 and drugs and utensils on July 6. He was found with the syringe on September 27.

Fast food employee drank drove on trip for work

Premium Content Subscriber only A FAST FOOD employee asked by her boss to travel to a town she was traumatized over ended up drinking before driving and had a high reading when busted by police. Leanne Michelle Smith (also known as Robertson) pleaded guilty on December 14 in Rockhampton Magistrates Court to one count of drink driving. Police prosecutor Sergeant Shaun Janes said police were conducting roadside breath tests at Yeppoon on November 19 when they intercepted Smith driving a white Hyundai Getz at 1.50pm and she had a blood-alcohol content (BAC) reading of .186. Defence lawyer Michael Stockall said his client, who worked for Red Rooster at Glenmore, had been asked by her boss to go to Yeppoon.
