Driver s mate jailed 3 years for causing harm LISTEN JAN 14, 2021 An 18-year-old driver s mate has been sentenced to three years imprisonment by the Nkawie circuit court for inflicting knife wounds on a boy at Abuakwa in the Atwima-Nwabiagya South Municipality. Benjamin Lartey pleaded guilty and was convicted on his own plea by the court presided by Mr Johnson Abbey. Detective Sergeant Francis Opoku told the court that the victim and his mother, who was the complainant in the case, resided at Abuakwa Dadease, where the convict also resided. He said on December 22 last year, the victim was returning home from the work place of his brother.

Richard Okyere who is facing a charge of defiling a minor pleaded not guilty and his lawyer prayed the court to grant him bail. But the court presided over by Mrs. Adelaide Abui Kadey, remanded Okyere into Military custody to reappear on January 27, 2021. The prosecution, led by Detective Sergeant Opoku Aniagyei, narrated to the court that both the complainant who is a 53-year-old labourer of the Ghana Military Police, and the accused live at Burma Camp in Accra. He said the victim is a 14-year-old Junior High School student, residing with the father who is the complainant in the case.

Self-Style Pastor Remanded For Defilement

  A self-styled pastor who defiled a 12-year-old girl at Abuakwa in the Atwima-Nwabiagya South Municipality, has been remanded into prison custody by the Nkawie Circuit Court. Peter Nyame is said to have defiled the girl whose parents had taken him as a friend of the family, on four different occasions at Abuakwa. His plea was not taken and will reappear before the court presided by Mr Johnson Abbey on January 04, 2021. Detective Sergeant Francis Opoku, told the court that the victim and her parents reside at Abuakwa where the suspect also resides. He said the suspect who claimed to be a pastor of the Assemblies of God church often visited the home of the victim and her family, since the family had taken him as a friend.
