Advocate for his fellow wounded warriors. Hes thinking about majoring in psychology so he can use his own experiences to help others. He got stellar grades. And by the way, hes only 24 years old. And says, im just getting started. In other words, kyle is a shining example of what our nation needs to encourage. Veterans who come home and then use their incredible skills and talents to keep our country strong. And we can all learn from kyles example. As we prepare for the reading of the citation, id like to close with his own words. A message i think for every american. It took a life changing event to get me to truly appreciate the precious and amazing life i have been blessed with. Please take it from me, enjoy every day to the fullest, dont take life too seriously, always try to make it count, appreciate the small and simple things, be kind and help others, let the ones you love always know you love them and when things get hard, trust theres a bigger plan and that you will be stronge
This is about giving veterans who have sacrificed everything, every option we have to help them fulfill a simple dream of starting a family. Now as we all know, our men and women in uniform have become increasingly susceptible to productive spinal and traumatic brain injuries due to the changing weapons of war. But as we know, thanks to modern medicine, many of these Service Members are being kept alive and are returning home. In fact, as of the new year, there are 2,348 Service Members who are living with reproductive urinary or pelvic injuries as a result of this war. And like so many of our veterans, these men and women come home and want to return to their lives. They want to find employment. And importantly, they want to start a family. Yet, what they find when they go to r. V. A. Is that the Fertility Services that are available dont meet their extremely complex needs. In fact, veterans who suffer from these injuries find that the v. A. Is specifically barred from providing more
Sane up for the healthier michigan program, and im wondering if you cover cataract surgery. They said the reason ive been asking, ive been trying to get someone to pay for his cataract surgery, and the optometrist told hum if he had the surgery he have normal vision, and he has lost his job and has not been able to drive and this would enable this person to get back and about a contributing member of society and obviously improve their life. So i think as you hear those stories, there are compelling stories and our governor was really great about gets around the state and hearing the stories and its not true of the entire population but theres a segment of the population that has not been getting services, and their life will improve and they will be able to be more contributing members of society, and that, i think, is part of the argument as well. I would just add, if youre in a state that has already expanded above 138 , youre going to be bringing it down probably, and this doesnt o
With the altering of that amendment. In retrospect, it particularly in light of what i have learned subsequently concerning the Public Safety issue, i should not have voted for that amendment. You consider that at the time you voted on it a Public Safety risk . Now was not aware as i am of the Public Safety risk. Again, the back of throat of bringing up a bill, i should have. In hindsight, it was regretful i did not. Last year, the Supreme Court issued an important ruling on Marriage Equality in the windsor case. How would your personal views on Marriage Equality impact of decisions as a judge . They would not. I would follow windsor and any other cases out of the Supreme Court. Would you commit to following Supreme Court precedent in this area when it comes to Marriage Equality . Absolutely. I know that there have also been some attention around comments you may borrow iraq while running to be a state court judge. What role do you think about your personal opinions on womens reproduct
It down to 78 cases where there was a real case negligent hiring. Not just a one of the lawyers threw up against the wall like spaghetti to see what would stick. We found 41 cases and all those years that were true that legit hiring. We whittled down even further to see if it was a primary claim, the primary claim was in 28 cases, 19 plaintiffs and nine settlements. We then wanted to know how many of those involved the criminal records. What we discovered was only 11 out of the 28 involved the criminal record. So the fear of being sued for negligent hiring was really, should not be a great fear. Especially when you think about new york which there are so many various employers. To our 588,115 reporting employers for over 8 million employees. When you look at the number and you see its negligible. The last thing ill say as my time is up is that when we did this study one of the things we were not able to see is whether, in fact, any of the employers took into account the requirements of
