Pedestrian dies after being hit by vehicle in hit-and-run incident; suspect is arrested

A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident, and a suspect has been arrested, according to the San Bernardino Police Department. The incident took place on Dec. 27 at about 7:46 p.m. at the intersection of 2nd Street and G Street. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene and did not wait for police officers or emergency medical services to arrive. The investigation revealed that Ronald Harris, 30, was driving a Saturn Aura at a high rate of speed, west on 2nd Street approaching G Street. At the same time, a 42-year-old man was crossing the intersection in a crosswalk. Harris allegedly did not slow or stop for the pedestrian and struck the pedestrian in the crosswalk. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Fontana man is killed in traffic collision on Dec 25

A 32-year-old Fontana man died in a traffic collision in San Bernardino on Dec. 25, according to the San Bernardino Police Department. At about 10:33 a.m., a 2002 Ford F-150 driven by Miguel Esquer was traveling westbound on 48th Street at a high rate of speed as he approached the intersection with Sun Valley Drive. For an unknown reason, the Ford went into opposing lanes and collided with a parked semi-truck on the street. No other vehicles or people were involved in the incident. Esquer was killed as a result of the collision and speed does appear to be a factor, police said.

One person dies in four-vehicle collision allegedly caused by intoxicated driver on Dec 16

One person died and another person was injured in a four-vehicle collision that was allegedly caused by an intoxicated driver, according to the San Bernardino Police Department. On Dec. 16 at about 8:19 p.m., two Toyota Camrys were stopped at the red signal facing southbound on Waterman Avenue at the intersection with Third Street in San Bernardino. At the same time, a Freightliner was traveling west on Third, making a left turn onto southbound Waterman on a green signal. Witnesses observed Ismael Lopez, a 27-year-old San Bernardino resident, driving a Chevrolet Tahoe south on Waterman, allegedly running several red lights while driving at high speeds. The Tahoe failed to stop for the red signal at Waterman Avenue/Third Street and collided into the rear of the two Toyota Camrys. The force of the collision pushed one of the Camrys into the Freightliner.
