CAA Allows Serene Air to Operate Flights to Saudi Arabia and UAE Four years after launching domestic operations in Pakistan, the private airline Serene Air is geared up to expand globally next month. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has permitted Serene Air to operate direct flights to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) after getting the approval of the federal cabinet. Serene Air will commence its flight operations to Jeddah, Riyadh, Dubai, and Sharjah in January 2021 using Airbus A330 and Boeing 777 aircraft. ALSO READ The airline has also received clearance from Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation to operate flights to Jeddah and Riyadh.

The flight operations will commence from January 2021. According to a notification issued by the director of air transport, the private airline will add the new Airbus 330 and Boeing 737 airplanes to its fleet. Serene Air has been instructed to issue a flight schedule to the CAA. It will start its operations through flights to Saudi Arabia and UAE. The new airplanes will be used in these schedules.

According to Article 4.5(a) (iv) read with Article 4.4, Pakistan’s scheduled carriers are required to operate on primary and socio-economic routes. However, over the course of more than one year since the policy came into effect, both Serene Air and Airblue have not been able to operate 5% of their capacity - available seat kilometre - each on primary and socio-economic routes as required under the said article.
