The Lephalale municipality in Limpopo has elected its fourth mayor since the 2021 local government elections. The appointment of the African National Congress’ (ANC’s) Aaron Mokgehle follows the resignation of Louisa Shongwe who only served three months. She was advised to resign to make way for Mokgehle, who was recommended by the ANC’s Provincial Executive Committee.
The ANC in Limpopo’s Waterberg region is not giving up on its quest to topple the DA from leading the Thabazimbi Local Municipality after it was slapped with an interdict to stop it from swearing in its mayor and speaker.
