i don t think this is a situation that christmas is cancelled as a result of a rail strike but especially for every day products, food, agricultural supply chains, this is going to have a significant impact if a strike occurs. that s why they have asked congress to intervene here to take steps and measures. we saw a deal negotiated back in september that the biden administration helped to broker. we just need to put this issue to rest. the two sides haven t seen a lot of traction in recent weeks and this is, again, something that we don t have to wait until the last minute to have a crisis upon us at the last minute. we can do this now. from what i understand, the main sticking point, is paid six days. the union asked for 16 of them. the union came back with an increase of wages but only one
a short-term bill to keep the government funded and they ll come back during the regular period of congress but i don t see any sort of long-term deal. we ll keep our eyes covered for a continuing resolution. t there s a lot of interest and enthusiasm in congress toward passing these two measures. i don t see why there would be much of a problem here. at the same time there are always lawmakers who will claim that these measures are unnecessary, that this is just
intervention. what exactly is it you want to see them to do? there s only two options for congress. they can force a deal or extend the negotiating period from december 9th. kick the can, if you will. again, enforcing a deal, doing this pro actively, that s the simplest, cleanest solution here and they can build on either the september 14th deal that was negotiated and signed off on a tentative basis by rail and union or they can do something like a presidential emergency recommendation issued previously. it s sort of there in their court, what they actually do. they can get this do and it s the solution here. it has enormous implications. i hope there s a resolution soon that serves both sides. thank you so much for the time. absolutely. thanks so much, boris. more people gathering for the
