As Amazon looks to enact layoffs globally, Indian government officials call a hearing on complaints that employees were coerced into the company's Voluntary Separation Program.
Amazon today provided more details about its "Voluntary Separation Program" to the Labour Ministry. Last week, the tech giant informed the government that it has not fired any employees, but some have left under the "Voluntary Separation Program".
Amazon will be shutting down three of its businesses in India to thrive amid the ongoing economic slowdown. The company will be discontinuing its wholesale distribution channel, food delivery service and ed-tech venture.
Responding to Business Today’s queries about shutting down of it's ed-tech, food delivery, and wholesale distribution network, an Amazon spokesperson said, “We remain committed to India and will continue to invest across those areas where we can bring value to our customers.”
