Many things have been up in the air this year. (And no that’s not an airborne virus joke). Travels, studies, work, leisure, relationships, etc. have all been impacted one way or another. But there’s one thing that remains constant and that’s K-dramas. And with that, here is our annual superlative roundup.

The Korean drama industry has seen a surge in the international craze. In 2020, amid the pandemic, many resorted to exploring K-dramas and movies. After Bong Joon s Ho sweep at Oscars 2020 with the movie
Parasite, there s been a rising interest in movies and television. From beautiful romantic comedies to thrilling dramas to feel-good slice of life shows, they have something for everyone. The Korean language shows are limited in their episodes but the story arc takes the audience through a journey of emotions. Once you overcome the one-inch tall barrier of subtitles, you will be introduced to so many more amazing films, Bong Joon Ho said at Golden Globes 2020. In the case of Korean languages, it takes minimal effort to get through the barrier of subtitles.
One detail that can make or break a K-drama is the lead couple. Sometimes, no matter how out-of-this-world a plot can be, the leading actors just don’t have that
it factor together. Luckily, 2020 did not disappoint and offered several iconic couples. In no particular order, here are the K-drama couples that enchanted our hearts this year.
Hyun Bin & Son Ye Jin in “Crash Landing On You”
Perhaps one of the most beloved couples on this list is Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin from tvN’s “Crash Landing On You.” This star-crossed lovers story starts when Yoon Se Ri (Son Ye Jin) crashes into North Korea while testing out her paragliding gear for her popular company called Se Ri’s Choice. It’s there that she meets the stoic soldier Ri Jung Hyuk (Hyun Bin), who eventually takes it upon himself to protect her and get her back to South Korea unharmed.
