across the country, cities are electing progressive prosecutors and conservatives are lashing out in response blaming them for increases in murder and violent crime though the crime rates are up in cities with traditional law-and-order type prosecutors, too. but these progressive prosecutors are making real change. san francisco s da abolished cash bail and refused to seek sentencing enhancement. the philadelphia da reformed parole and probation rules leading to a decline in the number of people under supervision and a reduction of racial disparities in sentencing. grammy award winning musician and activist john legend has been a big supporter of electing progressive prosecutors. i asked him about it. talk to me about your new initiative human level which i
it this afternoon. this was sunday and the city of gardena, a large man gets out of his car, walks out to woman pumping gas, he sucker punches her, knocks her to the ground, start stomping and beating on her head, leaving her with some severe injuries to her face. she had to be hospitalized. good news, she s okay now. what s disappointing is, there were good samaritans i won t call them good samaritans, they didn t get involved. there was a bunch of guys standing around, they didn t do anything. the guy got away, the sheriff s department is looking for him now. if they reported an hour ago, he was involved in the second attack on a second woman the day before that in that same area, the second victim was a 63-year-old woman. they got to find that guy quickly. one other point to make with our new d.a. out here, if this guy does get caught, george gascon does not believe in sentencing enhancement. if this guy gets caught, there may not be a great bodily injury enhancement, which could
