The City of Detroit, as well as the Wayne and Macomb county health departments, are working to vaccinate more of their senior citizens, who are some of the most vulnerable to the coronavirus, by opening more clinics for them starting this week.
Detroit officials announced Tuesday that two new appointment-only Senior Saturday locations for Detroiters at Grace Community Church on the east side and the Kemeny Recreation Center on the west side will open starting this weekend.
The city also is planning to work with community partners to bring mobile vaccination clinics to pop-up sites, giving shots to up to 200 eligible Detroiters across the city on an ad-hoc basis, targeting ZIP codes with high positivity test rates for the virus and a high population of seniors age 65 and older, officials said in a news release.
