DC, USA West Hartford native and Wesleyan graduate Jessica Rosenworcel has been named by President Joe Biden as FCC Acting Chairwoman.
According to the Hartford Courant, Rosenworcel is now the front-runner to replace current Chairman Ajit Pai. She went to Hall High in West Hartford before graduating from Wesleyan. She then earned her law degree from New York University.

On Thursday, President Biden named Rosenworcel as his choice for an acting FCC chairman. Taking over the role of former Chairman Ajit Pai now means a Democratic-leaning Commissioner in charge, after four years of Republican leadership.
Rosenworcel’s appointment is only temporary for now, but she has a decent chance of becoming the permanent president for Biden’s entire tenure, given the democratic control of the Senate.

President Joseph Biden this week designated FCC Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel as acting chair of the FCC. She succeeds, at least temporarily, former FCC chair Ajit Pai, who resigned effective on January 20.
“I am honored to be designated as the Acting Chairwoman of the Federal Communications Commission by President Biden,” Rosenworcel said in a statement. “I thank the President for the opportunity to lead an agency with such a vital mission and talented staff.
