The Cook Islands Suwarrow National Park will open its maritime borders to visiting international vessels tomorrow after having closed its entry for a few years since the outbreak of Covid-19.
Today s adoption of a global biodiversity framework at COP15 in Montreal commits the world to halting and reversing biodiversity loss by 2030 - a global goal hailed as the equivalent to climate s 1.5C. WWF welcomes the agreement s target to conserve at least 30% of land, freshwater and ocean globally, while respecting the rights of indigenous peoples and local communities, and recognising the contributions of indigenous and traditional territories towards the target’s tally.
EU Environment Ministers today agreed on their position on the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF), pledging measurable and time-bound long-term 2050 goals, as well as 2030 intermediate outcomes and action-oriented 2030 targets.
