There has been an explosion of anime on the service too, with some that are originally produced by Netflix.  Among those upcoming titles, of particular interest is “Yasuke,” which is set to premiere on April 29, 2021.  (Netflix/MAPPA) Dubbed as the Black Samurai, Yasuke was the first African to have served as a retainer for Japanese daimyō Oda Nobunaga in the late 16th century, at a time when Japan was in the middle of the Sengoku Jidai roughly, the Warring States Period or Era. Yasuke arrived in Japan in 1579, working for Jesuit missionary Alessandro Valignano.
