PHNOM PENH (The Phnom Penh Post/Asia News Network): After receiving the endorsement of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) as its future candidate for the Kingdom’s top office, Prime Minister Hun Sen’s son Hun Manet immediately came under attack by former opposition leader Sam Rainsy, who alleged that his degree from the US Military Academy at West Point was somehow “second class”.
After receiving the endorsement of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) as its future candidate for the Kingdom’s top office, Prime Minister Hun Sen’s son Hun Manet immediately came under attack by former opposition leader Sam Rainsy, who alleged that his degree from the US Military Academy at West Point was somehow “second class”.
Prime Minister Hun Sen has confirmed that his eldest son Hun Manet is his preferred successor as prime minister provided he is able to win election to the post when the time comes. Manet is currently the deputy commander-in-chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and the commander of the army’s infantry.
Former Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) President Kem Sokha called on his former colleague Sam Rainsy and his group to stop abusing his reputation by using his name and photos in connection with their political ambitions.
