Bogota, Apr 8 (Prensa Latina) The old scourge of racism is at the center of political debates in Colombia since the Pacto Historico announced its presidential ticket for next May's elections.
The representation of the former combatants is hanging by a thread after 2026 when they will no longer have guaranteed seats in the legislative powers.
Colombia’s 2016 peace deal was a landmark achievement, convincing the FARC guerrillas to disarm and enter civilian life. Yet much remains to be done to show insurgents that they can redress their grievances through ordinary politics. The country’s leaders should recommit to finishing the job.
