Renewed efforts to restrict the ability of third-party and independent candidates to make the ballot ahead of Montana’s 2024 U.S. Senate race stalled just as they began Monday with little explanation.
A bill to move almost all Montana elections to the General Election in November failed in committee Friday, in part due to testimony from Fergus County officials.
Lawmakers have proposed over a dozen amendments during the legislative session thus far. It takes 100 votes from both chambers to send an amendment to be considered by the voters.
