And the controversy over a twogame suspension for a Football Player who attacked his girlfriend. Thats not me. My action was inexcusable. All in starts right now. Good evening from new york. Im chris hayes. And youre looking live at the house floor where at this hour, the republican majority in the house of representatives is moving forward with symbolic border crisis legislation that is guaranteed to go nowhere and accomplish nothing. This goes after a full day of backlash from all quarters against House Republicans for bungling even a meager attempt to address the humanitarian situation at the border. The Republican Caucus unable to coalesce around a legislative solution today caught hell from all sides, not the least of whom was president obama. But instead of working together, instead of focusing on the 80 where there is agreement between democrats and republicans, between the administration and congress, House Republicans, as we speak, are trying to pass the most extreme and unwor
Ground in gaza nor the latest in just a bit. But first, we want to start this hour with muchneeded good Economic News this week. On wednesday, the Commerce Department announced the u. S. Economy grew at a 4 rate in the spring. Thats a big turnaround from what had been a winter slump. On friday president obama touted the jobs numbers. Were now in a sixmonth streak with at least 200,000 new jobs each month. Thats the first time that has happened since 1997. Things are getting better. Our engines are revving a little bit louder. Of course, thats not the whole story for all americans. Wages are barely bundling. Workers arent getting more hours and longterm unemployment repains high. What xlit cocalled the meh economy. Obama outlined the economic challenges the country still faces. Im glad gdp has grown. Im glad that corporate profits are high and the stock market is booming. But what really i want to see is a guy working a nine to five and then some over time, i want him making more than m
This Vantage Point we often hear explosions that are very far away. I cant tell you where those shells are landing. We briefly heard small arms fire on two occasions as well. At this key moment after we just have heard from the ukranian president who spoke to barack obama hours ago about the need for the ceasefire to be respected, spoke to Angela Merkel and francois holland. At this stage now were not hearing a noticeable change in the sounds behind me. We can hear that shelling very clearly at this hour. Fred youre in mariopol. He also came under attack. Set the scene for us there. Are you also hearing shelling there . Reporter right now were not hearing any shelling from our van take pointtage point jim. But certainly the message that weve been getting from the battalions fighting on the ukranian side they say today was the most fierce fighting theyve encountered. Were not sure whether that is leading up to the ceasefire or bad thing for what might come ahead. We heard there were sev

Atika, explain where you are and the lates
Are still setting up their perimeter. Weve been in one place at a Police Checkpoint outside the town were you talking about. And then all of a sudden the police came and started moving us out to some other places and right now weve been taken to some sort of Crisis Center theyre trying to set up where were going to be setting up shop as well. And working from there. But the police said theres a lot of movement theres a lot of police cars driving around, lights flashing a lot of Police Convoys moving around. Theyre fortifying this perimeter around here. I wouldnt say the police are necessarily on edge. But they certainly are very focused. When they give orders they expect you to follow those orders immediately and they certainly dont take questions very well. So they know what theyre doing and theyre very focused on their operation. The other thing we have to say, youre right to say there are a lot of medical teams around here. We saw several medical helicopters on the ground ready for
