The Congressional Budget Office is now evaluating the new senate bill that among other things would slash medicaid and end the requirement for most americans to have health care. Now, enough republican lawmakers already oppose the bill to sink it, but they say theyre willing to negotiate. Abcs janai norman joins us from washington where its been a busy week. James park in san jose handing out cold water and snacks to anyone in need. Just something so they can be okay to survive the heat that weve been having, and so we dont lose any more people to death from heat. At least two people have died from heat related illnesses in san jose this week. One a homeless person in a car. Santa clara also had homeless in mind when officials decided to open county libraries to pets. Matthew and his mom had been taking turns staying outside with their dog queen until now. Its great. Sky 7 was overhead as firefighters both in the air and on the ground tried to keep the flames from spreading. This started when a car caught fire on i80 just past the car kin as bridge toll plaza. Abc 7 News Reporter Leslie Brinkley is live. Youve been speaking to some of the feem who live there tonight. Reporter residents in this neighborhood told me they are so grateful tonight to the firefighters from all over this region who came together, converged here and got this fire away from the homes. They did drop fire retardant in many neighborhoods. As one woman told me, my house may be pink now, but at least i have a home. A wall of flames crackled up this hillside toward the glen cove neighborhood in vallejo. A plane dumped fire retardant turning homes, cars, driveways and porches pink. Low clouds and fog need a little help and they will get it over the weekend as we lift the door open for a cooler breeze. Still 90s inland. That is pretty high. Pretty hot, but i think people watching are going to like this picture that im going to show you. That will be the Golden Gate Bridge. You can see the dense dog. You can barely see the roadway from our camera on the Golden Gate Bridge. Southbound 101 near spencer. If you are coming down to the golden gate there are reports of a new crash. You can see traffic is going to be okay at the bay bridge toll plaza. Traffic is backed up all the way to macarthur, but it is not too bad. We are also looking at the san mateo bridge were traffic here is okay. A crash could be causing some delays. We do not see a lot of slow traffic, but southbound 17 still has two lanes block by two big rigs that are stall. Right now you cannot drive from santa cruz on highway 17.
