The U.S. Capitol was overrun January 6 by an angry, armed mob of insurrectionists carrying campaign banners with the name “Trump” displayed just as prominently as on any of his failed casinos.
There is no doubt as to their motives; they wanted to disrupt the counting of Electoral College votes by the Congress and the Senate, usually a plain vanilla enterprise unnoticed by either the public or the media. In this era of Trump and the coronavirus, however, there is nothing either “plain” or “vanilla,” much as we might like to have it so.

LAHORE: The American Senate and the country s House of Representatives (Congress), which pass laws at the 227-year-old US Capitol in Washington DC, have suffered attacks on various occasions since 1814.
A research shows that the 288-foot-high US Capitol is the location where American presidents deliver their annual State of the Union addresses, but it has also been the site of Sunday religious services, governmental functions, violence in the form of fire, break-ins, fistfights and shootings.
According to American media houses, when the Capitol was expanded in the 1850s, some of the construction labour was carried out by slaves who would cut the logs, lay the stones and baked the bricks.

â The War of 1812: Despite the name of the war, it lasted three years. And on Aug. 24, 1814, the British invaded Washington, leading to the infamous torching of the White House. The Capitol building â then much smaller and lacking its current dome, was also set alight. The British retreated after a huge storm struck the city â perhaps a hurricane or a tornado â quenching the fires.
