Our general officers, chf justice and meers of the judiciary, municip leaders, members of my cabinet, and my fellow Rhode Islanders whore watching at home, including my mom, willa and i want to thank everybody always asking how my mom is doing. Good evening. When i staed thinking about this years state of the state address, i thought back to the first inaugul speech i made in march of 2021. Rhode island was in a time of significant change. We were faced with many challenges and what felt like endless unknowns. At that time, i asked my fellow Rhode Islanders to join me, to come together as one team and meet that moment head on. Joined him at the briefing. Mr. Jeffries let me begin by expressing my condolences to the family of dianne feinstein, a legendary lioness of the United States senate, a towering public figure. So thankful for her life and legacy and all that she did to make life better for countless individuals in her beloved state of california, all across the country and as someone it is my expectation that the house will participate, certainly House Democrats, in any appropriate commemorations of her life and her service that take place here within the capitol and or in california as well. Once again maga republicans in the house have demonstrated their complete and utter inability to govern. And there is absolutely no reason that we

Mayor london breed recalled the first female mayor of San Francisco as a mentor, a proud democratic leader. And like feinstein, was also propelled into the Mayors Office after tragedy. One of the first calls i got was from senator Dianne Feinstein. And we had a very long discussion about just just what she went through , how she made decisions, how difficult it was, and she provided that support and that mentorship to make sure that i was prepared to step up at a difficult time for our city. Fondly remembered by those who came to share their remembrances and pay their respects at the south gallery in city hall. Its very sad to hear of senator feinsteins passing, but i feel like she lived a very full life in service to others in her community and she serv
