Sen Hyde-Smith announces CPB will pay $21 2M for security helicopters

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith , a member of the Senate Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, said Tuesday the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued a $21.2 million contract to begin production of Mississippi-built Light Enforcement Helicopters. The CBP contract, which has a $65.9 million potential value, is for the delivery of up to nine helicopters. The aircraft are manufactured at the Airbus plant in Columbus. “Light Enforcement Helicopters play an effective role in curtailing illegal activities on our borders, Hyde-Smith said. This contract represents our continued work to provide CBP with new aircraft to replace old and less-effective aircraft. I’m pleased aircraft manufacturers in the Golden Triangle Region will continue to contribute to this goal.”

Sen Hyde-Smith: Miss Lawmakers Applaud $32 Million Grant to MEMA for Vaccine Distribution

$32 million Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) to support COVID-19 vaccine distribution efforts. This additional funding for vaccine distribution is great news for the state of Mississippi, Wicker said. I am grateful for FEMA s continued support as our state works to recover from this pandemic and restore more aspects of normal life. The widespread interest among Mississippians for the coronavirus vaccine is encouraging. These FEMA resources will increase the ability of MEMA to assist the state s inoculation effort, and for that we are all thankful, said Hyde-Smith, who serves on the Senate Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee. It is critical that Mississippians have the resources necessary to prevail in our fight against COVID-19, and this funding will prove to be a tremendous asset in our distribution efforts. Getting Mississippians vaccinated as quickly as we can is a key component of restoring our economy and way of life, Palazzo said.
