KARACHI: Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjarani on Friday urged Karachi’s business community to expand their activities by setting up industrial export units in Gwadar as well as other parts of Balochistan.
Addressing the business community at the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), the Senate chairman said Gwadar is fast becoming a trading hub as development work in the port city had picked up pace. He asked Karachi businessmen to invest in Gwadar and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects. Chinese investors are continuously arriving at Gwadar for setting up industrial units, he highlighted. The issue of water scarcity in Gwadar has been resolved and desalination plants have been installed, he added.

The ruling PTI and its key ally in Balochistan – the BAP – have failed to iron out their differences over appointing a new governor of the province despite Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Tuesday visit to Quetta.
In April, Prime Minister Imran had asked Balochistan Governor Amanullah Khan Yasinzai to step down, stating that he intended to appoint a new governor to the province in view of the transformed political challenges facing the country. It has been a pleasure to have worked with you, striving for creation of a welfare state and especially looking after the problems of people of the province of Balochistan, the premier wrote.
LAHORE: Governor Ch Sarwar met with Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjarani, deputy chairman, Punjab senior minister and senators.
The meeting discussed political and parliamentary matters whereas all leaders condemned Israeli crimes and urged the United Nations to take prompt action and press Israel to uphold international law.
Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjarani, Deputy Chairman Mirza Muhammad Afridi, Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan, Senator Waleed Iqbal, Senator Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry and other senators called on the governor.
Governor Ch Sarwar congratulated Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani on performing Umrah and various issues came under discussion during the meeting.
During the meeting, Sarwar said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has no political or personal agenda, he is only pursuing the interests of the nation.
