Senator Uba Sani (Kaduna Central, APC), has urged Nigerians to use the occasion of Christmas to put smiles on the faces of the poor and vulnerable.
He said on Christmas eve that, “on the special occasion of Christmas, I send warmest greetings to our Christian brothers and sisters in Nigeria and across the globe. We rejoice with you and pray to the Almighty God to keep and strengthen you as you go through the challenges and difficulties occasioned by the rampaging COVID-19 pandemic.”
According to him,” the usual hustle and bustle associated with great celebrations like Christmas may be missing this time around due to economic challenges, but we must not fail to take full advantage of the opportunity it offers for spiritual renewal and the building of the spirit of oneness and harmony.
Gov Emmanuel condemns youth involvement in cultism

Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has condemned the involvement of youths in cultism, noting that most of the crimes in the state especially armed robbery, and killings are perpetrated by cultists.
Emmanuel who spoke yesterday while fielding questions from newsmen in Uyo frowned at a situation where Secondary Schools now carry locally made pistols to threaten teachers and sometimes block the major road and terrorising members of the public.
His words, “About 99.9 per cent of the people we have arrested in terms of armed robbery, kidnapping, all of them confessed to be cultists. Let me shock you because I am not shy to say this anywhere.

The Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Kaduna state chapter, Rev (Dr) John Joseph Hayab, has said that as the world celebrates this season, “I call on us all to be law-abiding citizens, celebrate our Christmas in love, peace, respecting others and strictly observing government regulations on COVID-19.”
In his Christmas message entitled, “The Birth of Truth that Gives us Hope”, he said ” the word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14)”
Nasarawa: 15 dead, 668 discharged since COVID-19 outbreak

As the new wave of COVID-19 hits Nasarawa, leaving more than 30 persons testing positive in one day, the Nasarawa State government said the state has so far recorded 15 deaths including former Provost of the College of Education, Akwanga, Dr Rebecca Umaru since the outbreak of the pandemic.
Speaking at the expanded meeting of the COVID-19 council in government House, Lafia, the Acting Governor who is also the COVID-19 taskforce Chairman, Dr Emmanuel Akabe disclosed that 668 patients have been treated and discharged between March and December 2020.
He said 30 persons tested positive on the 22nd of December bringing the number to be the highest number recorded in a single day in the state since the outbreak of COVID-19 early this year.
