The study conducted in the Gambia used traditional performing arts to encourage mothers to provide children with safe food and water. Researchers from the UK-based University of Birmingham said hospital admissions from diarrhoea among children under five were reduced  by 60 per cent as a result of the intervention, while admissions for respiratory infections fell by 30 per cent.
